The Need and Importance of Financial Accounting

The Need and Importance of Financial Accounting from Fareed Siddiqui, BBA, MBA-Fin, MPhil-Fin, (PhD)

Accounting is very much connected with our personal lives in so far as it is in respect of every business. We all with intent or unknowingly generate accounting ideas in a way when we plan what we will do with money. We need to plan how much money will be spent whilst how much of it will be kept back.

Being known as "The Language of business", accounting is the basic need of a business organization to find out where it stands. It is of great essence to provide the basis for planning and budgeting while dealing with measurement of economic activities and communicating financial information to the users for business decision making. It is also meant for protecting the properties of business and communicating the results obtained from the financial statements to the intended parties like share holders, debtors, creditors, and investors while meeting the legal requirements.  Accounting is included in those fields that are growing faster in this era. It is dynamic at the present time and meets the growing demands of trade, commerce and industry. It is appropriate to mention here that the advent of industrial revolution and technological advancements have given rise to widen more business prospects at the same time as bringing about  change in the domain of accounting by which it has now begun to be known as a tool of management for planning and controlling process. Thus, it can be rightly said, in the present day and age, no economic activity can be carried out successfully with no thought of accounting.
According to American accounting association, accounting has been defined as, “The process of identifying, measuring, and communicating information to permit judgment and decision by the users.” Yet another definition of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is that “Accounting is the art of recording, classifying and summarizing in a significant manner and in terms of money, transactions and events which are, in part at least, of financial character and interpreting the results thereof.”

Steps to boost your Self-esteem

Remember that you can be either, the winner or the loser, as it all depends on how you think and you react. If you think positively, chances are that you can be winner. The power of positive thinking cannot be denied. Talk positively always. It is better to be with those who talk positively. Negative thinkers can not only discourage you, but can make you sick.

Comparison is not good for judging the people. So, it goes with you too. Don’t compare yourself to others. As it goes in the words of Bill Gates, “Don’t compare yourself with anyone in this world. If you do so, you are insulting yourself.”

Get into exercise habit. If you become an exercise addict and you stick at it, you can not only improve your mood, but also immune system helping you to reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases. Exercise can have a positive effect on your self-esteem.

One of worst things that does not let you improve your self-esteem is to strive for perfection. Striving for continuous improvement is far better than striving for perfection. In the former case, you can develop your self-esteem positively, while in case of latter, you can lose your hope. It is worth mentioning what has been said by Vince Lombardi, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can achieve excellence.”

That which gives you pleasure is a good thing to do to improve your self-esteem. Spare time to do things that suit your interest best, so as to be happy and to get personal fulfillment as well. Such as reading, writing, drawing or painting, learning a language, educating yourself more. It’s not only a good way to increase your self-esteem, but a good source for overcoming your boredom - in case you feel it.

Celebrate successes even if they are small. They may be simple but can brighten your days. The little satisfying effects can enhance your positive energy. Simple pleasures can help you beat your strain and stress leading to increase your self-esteem day by day. Simple pleasures can make you feel better and make your life worth living.

This saying is noteworthy, as it helps you increase your self-esteem.  “Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person that you are.”
